Prof. Heiko
Dr. Xing Fu received his PhD degree from Washington State University where he studied the impact of obesity and diabetes on muscle development and regeneration. In 2016 he joined the laboratory of Dr. Jeffery Molkentin at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital as a postdoctoral fellow, where he investigated the biology of cardiac fibroblast in cardiac fibrosis. He joined LSU as an assistant professor in December 2017. Dr. Fu was promoted to Ralph and Lela Boulware Associate Professor in July 2023.main research focuses on mesenchymal stem cells in skeletal muscle, cardiac muscle, and adipose tissue. Dr. Fu has published over 30 papers in journals such as Journal of Clinical Investigation, Diabetes, and Journal of Biological Chemistry, and has received funding for multiple projects from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA)..
