Dr. Jana Frahm is a senior researcher at the Institute of Animal Nutrition at the Friedrich-Loeffler-Institut in Brunswick, Germany. She specialises in investigating the influence of diet on animal health. A key focus of her research is the development and metabolic adaptation of ruminants during early rearing and the long-term effects on animal health and performance. She studied biology at the University of Rostock and completed her PhD in animal physiology, investigating the impact of physical factors on cell metabolism. She is a member of the expert group of the Association of German Engineers, where she works on issues relating to the effects of emissions on farm animals. With her background in the field of animal physiology, immunology and cell biology, she works at the interface of nutrition and integrative physiology in various livestock species with a special focus on young ruminants and their development into healthy, high-performance and resilient farm animals.
